Click on the video still image below to watch a recorded screencast where Chris Dagdigian “unboxes” the freshly released Grid Engine 6.2beta release. The video is Quicktime (not the usual Flash based screencast) and is fairly large in order to show terminal detail.

Comments & feedback appreciated. We are still trying to figure out the value-vs-effort equation as it relates to online video and screencasts.

As part of the 2008 Bio-IT World Expo and Conference, Chris Dagdigian will present an updated version of his well received “Trends from the Trenches” talk first presented at the 2007 Harvard Biomedical HPC Leadership Summit. From the abstract:

This talk will review some of the BioTeam’s recent work with biotech, pharmaceutical, government and enterprise clients. As an independent consulting firm, the BioTeam is able to see how HPC problems in life science infor-matics have been approached by organizations of varying type and size. We will address common problems and observed trends in computing, workflows and data movement, along with details on particularly clever solutions observed in production environments around the world.
